6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 cup butter, sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup apple juice or water
Directions:
Prepare Apples: Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. Place them in the slow cooker.
Mix Seasonings: In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Sprinkle this mixture over the apples.
Add Butter & Liquids: Top the apples with slices of butter and pour in the apple juice or water and lemon juice. Give everything a light stir to coat the apples evenly.
Slow Cook: Set your slow cooker on low heat and cook the apples for 3-4 hours, or until they are tender but not mushy. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Serve: Serve warm as a side dish, a topping for pancakes or ice cream, or enjoy them straight from the bowl! For a little extra indulgence, sprinkle some extra cinnamon on top before serving.
Tip:
For a real Southern treat, serve these fried apples with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
